Can Boys

Maybe they were just trouncing to LBI
To sit at the victor's table;
Maybe their fish tanks had dried up
Because Grandmother was neglectful;
Or maybe they were on The Greatest Adventure of Their Lives -
And they didn't even know it,
But they knew they were "The Can Boys."
Laughing at all the mediocrity, but mostly laughing at themselves --
I have no idea what they were laughing at --
My view was, at best, partial.

But their buckets were full and Hope was just trying to tag along...
